The UAE has withdrawn a batch of ‘Aptamil Advance 1 POF’, widening a global recall of baby formula products on concerns it could be contaminated with the toxin cereulide.
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) and the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) said batches of the infant milk powder with the expiry date of November 8, 2026, has been recalled, after traces of cereulide, a toxin produced by the Bacillus cereus bacteria, were found.
Authorities added that the products have been moved to the distributors’ warehouses, in coordination with manufacturer Nutricia Middle East (Danone), and efforts are on to remove all remaining products from all points of sale, including online stores.
Consumers have been urged to check the expiring date, and dispose the product.
The withdrawal follows Danone’s announcement to recall specific batches of the infant formula and follow-on milk distributed in the UK and EU, adding that the product could cause nausea and vomiting.

The UAE had earlier recalled several infant products from Nestlé over similar concerns of toxin-forming bacteria.
Companies affected by the precautionary recalls of baby formula on worries on toxic contamination include three of the world’s largest dairy groups, Nestle, Danone and privately-owned Lactalis.
